Greenwich Summer Sessions identity

We were commissioned to art direct Greenwich Summer Sessions, a large 6 day out door concert series held in the grounds of the Royal Navy College in Greenwich.

The first stage of our work was to think through the overall identity for the concert series. While embedded in research around Greenwich landmarks we defined key visual touch points. This included the meridian line; an imaginary line that ‘runs from the North Pole to the South Pole. By international convention it runs through “the primary transit” instrument (main telescope) at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. It is known as Zero Longitude and it is the line from which all other lines of longitude are measured. There have been many meridian lines during the course of history including 9 lines at Greenwich!’ The visual identity references this subtle cultural cornerstone with an inversion of the ‘i’s within the title that (in colour) are picked out in a sharp punchy green.

The identity needed to work across all manner of marketing materials and tie together the event itself. The design received a fair amount of press including a great feature in Computer Arts Projects issue 151 and a lovely write up in Design Week.
